Why HONEY Sweet?

  • I named my band LOCAL HONEY because it's a beloved staple. Every town and roadside produce stand is proud of their sweet sticky goo putting their own regional twist on it. We all know and love it. We're a fairly unknown four piece rock band touring home town USA the name LOCAL HONEY kinda chose me. LOCAL HONEY sounds familiar, welcoming, fun and a little naughty. We're taking the music to the people, meeting them where they are. "But why not SWEET you ask? It's bad enough being a performing songwriter/musician named Shari Sweet. For decades thousands of people ask or think it's a stage name which hints I may be a fraud. Assuming if I created a stage name then I'm not proud of who I am and my life work. Before hearing a lick they've formed an option of me. I'm sad at that, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." I'm not selling flowers and an artist's or band name matters especially if you're playing venues in towns new to us and them. Ask John "Cougar" or Bob Dylan. I've gone to bat for my last name since I was able to speak. Each day setting fire to my clock as I walk the dirt above my grave explaining to complete strangers Sweet isn't fake, made up or a stage name. Pure hell. I'm not putting my band through that unnecessary bullshit. Here's my schtick "My grandpa was Sweet, my daddy was Sweet, my mom was Sweet. Sweet is my last name but don't let the last name fool ya. I'm Shari Sweet in LOCAL HONEY a little rock band rattling walls, gettin' folks dancing, crying, singing along sooooo...we good?"

  • Shari's good is an understatement. Her songs bring down the house or silence a room with that voice. The audience listening motionless to hear her sing about her dad was an event not soon forgotten. The band is charmed, captivating and hilarious connecting with the audience and each other.."We're Home Grown y'all!" Shari's genre is Rock even though she writes and plays it all. "I call my music American Radio if that genre existed."
  • Honest, raw, and contagious, the band kills Shari's original songs and slays the classics we love.
  • This is SWEET'S HONEY.

Trust the song it knows what it wants and cramming an idea down its throat which doesn't belong is like putting on a pair of wet skinny jeans. It can be done, but why?

Playing live is an honor. From the moment I plug in til I wave goodbye I belong to everyone in the venue. Performing raw, from laughter to fears is the unspoken permission to bring all of who they are and belong.

To be a great producer you must have an epic engineer and create a safe place for the players and writers ideas to unfold. Make records people want to listen to.

NO DUMB LUCK - The Bio

  • Shari didn't just fall out of the sky. Her debut performance was at age 16 at The Bluebird Cafe a songwriter's venue in Nashville TN. Her musical bar was set high and higher as she became life long friends with the finest in the country. Surrounding herself with super human talent she learned and grew. These monsters of the music world's respect was earned proving the A Team believed in Shari even when she didn't.
  • Her records were recorded by them then and are all featured on her 2024 releases. Written and produced by Shari and played by the finest musicians in the country. "How do your songs sound so damn good?" Ha. A Team!
  • In 1994 her band Stone Garden was signed to Appaloosa Records. Stone Garden, and at times, just Shari toured  opening for national acts such as The Indigo Girls and Jeff Buckley. Endorsed by Gibson Guitars and other gear companies Sweet played coast to coast. From the WHISKEY A GO GO and The Troubadour Lounge to the Living Room and Knitting Factory in NYC.
  • In 1998 she was in talks with Monument Records and her future with the label when her mother died at age 57.
  • Shari wrote and produced "Believe" in 2002 with the A Team then walked away from music for 10 years. She asked for a divorce.  picked up her guitar and wrote two albums in three months "Angels & Lies" and "Ruff"
  • For ten years her focus was on making a lot of money. She got her Class A CDL and joined the Teamsters union. Driving exclusively for motion pictures she accomplished what she set out to do and retired back to Nashville.
  • When Covid hit she began writing and narrating a story series she named Telling Tiny Tall Tales. She submitted one just to see if she was kidding herself. She got the attention of an editor who actually read then published it. With his encouragement she wrote and submitted her stories. Each published thus becoming a published author.
  • In 2022 she had written enough music for 5 records. Finally in 2024 she produced with the A Team and released "SWEET ON THE RECORD" and "CLIMB" Shari said, "2024 was for making records, 2025 I'm going live,  taking the music to the people, meeting them where they are."
  • In spring 2025 Sweet set out with her LOCAL HONEY to Santa Fe and beyond. Her shows promoted as concerts flipped a switch shining a light she believed would never shine again. After HONEY'S first show Shari's overheard whispering modestly, "The crowd was totally with us omg. Every song, singing along, Shit! They wouldn't let us leave the stage. I think we nailed it." Indeed.
